Morgan Walker has been selected Fresno Pacific University Director of Athletics, the department announced May 17. Walker brings more than 20 years of senior administrative experience with him to the Central Valley, including the last 13 at Cal State San Bernardino.

“This is a tremendous opportunity that I have been waiting for since the day I started in this profession. I look forward to leading this department and our student-athletes on behalf of God, FPU and the city of Fresno,” Walker said. “I am grateful to be leading FPU Athletics, and I am excited to get started.”

Walker has served in various roles during his time in collegiate athletics, with responsibilities including compliance, marketing, game management, sport supervision, budget management and policy development. He has spent the last four years as the associate athletic director for administration at CSUSB, overseeing athletics-centered operations for all 10 programs.

Walker acted as the interim director of athletics at CSUSB for the 2016-17 academic year, a season that saw the Coyotes turn in their highest finish in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Commissioner’s Cup in six seasons. During this time, Walker also served on the Intercollegiate Athletic Advisory Council, was a member of the student affairs leadership team and chaired the NCAA’s Shared Governance Committee.

“Morgan brings a blend of exceptional athletic administrative experience, regional NCAA DII knowledge and a truly vibrant faith, and these attributes were clearly on display throughout the search process,” Vice President for Campus Life Dale Scully said. “This is a great hire for Fresno Pacific University, and I know that I speak for the entire FPU community when I say that we are elated with the selection of Morgan Walker to lead our athletics department.”

Walker received his Bachelor's Degree from Morningside College in Iowa, where he played football and was an All-American in track and field. He holds a Master's Degree in Sports Science with an emphasis in sports management from the United States Sports Academy in Daphne, AL.

His previous stints include appointments at UC San Diego, San Diego State, the University of Texas at El Paso and Tulane University, where he served as the assistant provost for academics and compliance for four years.

Walker will assume his new role on July 6 with an introductory press conference the following week.
