An accomplished leader with deep knowledge of higher education and the local area has been appointed chief information officer at Fresno Pacific University. 

Brad Barker began his new cabinet-level position December 1, 2023, bringing over 40 years of expertise in management, programming and implementation. He has spent the last three decades at Fresno State University, starting as a programmer/database administrator and most recently serving as senior director of cloud technologies, infrastructure and technology support. Here Barker oversaw several technology groups relating to academic applications, systems administration and end-user support. He is currently interested in identifying and empowering new leaders and re-equipping current employees with updated technology skills. 

“I’m excited to welcome Brad Barker as FPU’s new chief information officer in continued partnership with CampusWorks,” said FPU President André Stephens, Ph.D. “His collaborative style and depth of project experience will be an asset to FPU.”

Barker and his wife, Jamie, have between them six adult children and three grandchildren. He loves travel, fishing, hiking, backpacking and spending time with family at their cabin in the Sierra Nevada. He serves on the boards of Phi Kappa Phi and University of California Master Gardeners. Barker has a B.S. in Business Administration, Quantitative Analysis, from Fresno State.
