A lively performance of historic music is next in the 2023-24 Pacific Artist Series at Fresno Pacific University.

“Treasures of the Baroque” by the Laudami Ensemble will be at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, January 20, 2024, in the Lin Family Performance Studio, part of the Warkentine Culture and Arts Center, 4838 E. Butler Ave., Fresno, on the main FPU campus.

The intimate setting makes seating limited for this performance. Admission is $15 for general audiences and $5 for members of the university community. Tickets available at the door or online at fpu.edu/pacificartist. More information at music@fresno.edu or 559-453-2267.

Known for its energetic concerts, the Laudami Ensemble brings the past to life through historically informed performance on period instruments. Drawing connections between diverse artistic inspirations, violinist Laura Jeannin and harpsichordist Michael Peterson present a collection of works from the Baroque era centered around the music of Johann Sebastian Bach and his contemporaries.

The 21st season of the Pacific Artist Series concludes with:

In Her Hands – Agave Baroque

Elizabeth V. Lyles Theater | Warkentine Culture and Arts Center

In the exciting follow-up program to their Grammy-nominated album American Originals, Agave Baroque and soprano Michele Kennedy explore images of motherhood and the feminine divine through the ages and across continents as told through the voices of female composers. Delve into the intersections of spirituality and incarnation, grief and hope, and ultimately, transformation. From 17th-century Italian convents to the Underground Railroad, this program presents a powerful and vivid journey into the heights and depths of the human experience.

The Pacific Artists Series is the flagship cycle of concerts presented by the Music Department of Fresno Pacific University. Notable past performers have included Janai Brugger (soprano), Rong-Huey Liu (oboe), Francesca Dego (violin), Eugene Friesen (cello), Ruta Bloomfield (harpsichord), Andrew Funk (bass) and Del Sol Quartet. Additionally, FPU’s talented music faculty, as well as many former students, have also performed.
