FPU senior, Donte Nicholas, was recognized as the first GSAC player of the week for his outstanding performance on the court. In his first three games with the team, Nicholas led the nationally-ranked Sunbirds to three victories at the Las Vegas Classic, leading the team in scoring with 18.8 points per game.
The women's team, with a 90-72 win over Holy Names on December 30, picked up their 10th win of the season. Just midway through the season, the Sunbirds have already surpassed last season's win total and are looking to post a winning record in GSAC play for the first time since 2002.
