Author, teacher to speak to school administrators, library media educators

A nationally recognized author and teacher will share his insights and experiences with local school library media professionals during an event sponsored by Fresno Pacific Graduate School.

Gary Hartzell is the keynote speaker for Leadership Day, hosted by the graduate library media teacher media program, part of Fresno Pacific University. The annual event will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. April 4 in the Piccadilly University at Cedar and Shaw avenues.

Hartzell will also conduct one session for administrators and another for library media personnel. In addition to his work as professor of educational administration and supervision at the University of Nebraska, Hartzell writes a monthly column for the School Library Journal, and has written numerous articles for a wide variety of publications. He is the author of several books on school library issues and has co-authored a book on first-year assistant principals. Hartzell was invited to speak at the White House Conference on School Libraries in June 2002 and is a member of the advisory board for the Laura Bush Foundation for America's Libraries.

Events will be in the Waldorf Grand Ballroom at the Piccadilly University. The $50 registration fee includes a continental breakfast and lunch. Participants need to register by March 3.
