American Society of Victimology comes to FPU for national meeting

ASV has several Valley connections: it's board of directors includes Duane Ruth-Heffelbower, FPU faculty; and John Dussich, Bernadette Muscat and Steve Walker, all faculty in the criminology department at California State University, Fresno.

"Fresno is famous nationally and internationally for the research on the needs of victims being done by its universities. This is an opportunity for people in the Central Valley to hear what national leaders in the field have been learning about victims, victimization and society's response," Ruth-Heffelbower said.

Concern for those who are victimized and who need special attention to recover is the responsibility of all members of the community, according to Dussich. "This event helps us to understand more about victimization and directs our attention to ways that everyone can make a difference," he said.
