Are you ready to take your church-planting to a new level? Then Fresno is where you will want to be, when MB Biblical Seminary welcomes church planting pioneer Stuart Murray Williams to California's central valley.
"With a stronger foundation you can build more easily and successfully than by cutting corners with the fundamentals. And stronger church plants are vital to winning people to Christ," said officials with the seminary.
Running from Monday, March 15—Thursday, March 18, 2010, the four day experience will begin by "examining the biblical roots of church planting, some theological principles that are applicable to this practice and the historical context within which the contemporary church planting movement is set," said officials with MBBS.
When asked about what they hope this event will accomplish, Dr. Cory Seibel, assistant professor of pastoral ministries said he is hopeful the workshop will bring new ideas and concepts to the area of church planting. Seibel adds that "we know that denominational leaders are already encouraging their church planters to attend."
The London pastor, Stuart Murray Williams, has spent the last 12 years as an urban church planter in Tower Hamlets (East London) and has continued to be involved in church planting since then as a trainer, mentor, writer, strategist and consultant. He is chair of the Anabaptist Network and has a PhD in Anabaptist hermeneutics. Williams is also the founder of Urban Expression, a pioneering urban church planting agency with teams throughout Europe.
Officials say Williams has a lot to offer. "This is a great opportunity not just for people that are training to be church planters, but an opportunity to learn from a leading figure in this area," said Seibel.
The week long workshop will examine many practical issues involved in the process of church planting, and concludes by drawing on lessons from recent church planting experience, reflecting on missiological and ecclesiological issues and assessing the emergence of different kinds of churches. The class will meet each day from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on the MB Biblical Seminary's Fresno campus.
Students can take the course for 2 units of graduate credit ($824 US) or choose to audit it for no credit ($206 US).
