When an FPU student or new graduate gets the call for that first professional job interview, excitement can give way to panic—what to wear?

Suddenly that selection of Sunbird t-shirts just isn’t the way to dress to impress the people who hold the key to their professional future. Fortunately, the university Career Development Center (CDC) has a solution for the jobseeker on a budget.

The Career Closet offers a selection of men’s and women’s professional and business casual attire—free—to FPU students and alumni. The closet began with a donation put together by Evelyn Workman, mother of student Tami Dodd, and is accepting further contributions.

“Students who cannot purchase professional attire due to financial challenges, and those who just aren’t sure where to begin when putting together their first office-appropriate outfit for a new job or internship, can quickly find the resources they need. Our mission is to help every student thrive while achieving their career goals. The Career Closet adds another critical layer of practical support to ensure student success,” said Rose Winn, director, career development and experiential learning.

The closet is located in the Campus Life Offices in Steinert Campus Center on the main FPU campus, 1717 S. Chestnut Ave., Fresno. Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday and no appointment is needed.
