The official ribbon-cutting ceremony for Fresno Pacific University’s Dan Martin Stadium will be Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. This free event marks the grand opening of the home of Sunbird Baseball and celebrates a transformational milestone for Sunbird Athletics and the entire university community.

Admission is free and fans, alumni, students, faculty, staff and other community members are invited to enjoy light refreshments starting at 4:00 p.m. Official Sunbird gear will also be available for purchase. The stadium is on the east side of the main FPU campus, south of the intersection of Butler and Winery avenues.

The dedication program will begin at 4:30 p.m. and will include remarks from university and athletics leadership, as well as special presentations to commemorate this important moment in FPU history.

Following the dedication will be a live recording of the Sunbirds Sports Show, a weekly podcast series hosted by local sports personality and FPU alumnus Paul Meadors. The program airs Wednesday nights on 790 ESPN Fresno.

Construction of Dan Martin Stadium is slated to be completed by Quiring General on March 31, as Fresno Pacific prepares for the upcoming PacWest Conference series and to host the PacWest Conference Championships in early May. Funded by a $3 million gift from Fresno’s Daniel R. Martin Family Foundation and a lead gift from Valley Iron, Inc., and the Briscoe family, the facility includes a new concession stand and restroom, covered stadium seating for 700, a press box, modernized clubhouse and locker room fit for the big leagues.

"This is an incredible milestone for Fresno Pacific University and Sunbird Athletics," said Kyle Ferguson, director of athletics. "We are deeply grateful for the generosity of our donors whose vision and support made Dan Martin Stadium a reality. This facility is more than just a place to play baseball—it's a space where lives will be transformed through the platform of sport, in alignment with our Christian mission. It will serve not only our student-athletes but also our campus and the greater Fresno community for years to come.”

Following the ribbon-cutting, guests are invited to take clubhouse tours, step onto the field for batting practice and meet members of the 2025 Sunbird Baseball team. Free tacos, music and refreshments will be available throughout the celebration.

The event comes just ahead of a highly anticipated four-game home series as the Sunbirds take on conference rival Azusa Pacific University, beginning Thursday, April 10, with additional games on Friday, April 11 (doubleheader) and Saturday, April 12.
