An exhibit at Fresno Pacific University honors a local icon of art and social commitment.

“Margaret Hudson: Clay, Paint and Beyond,” is at Ewert Art Gallery, Warkentine Culture & Arts Center (CAC), through April 28, 2023. The CAC is on the main FPU campus, 1717 S. Chestnut Ave., Fresno. There is an ArtHop reception from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 6. Admission is free.

A sculptor, painter and educator, Hudson—who died in 2020 at the age of 93—was best known for her iconic clay sculptures of California wildlife and smiling children. The exhibit continues through April 28 and admission is free.

Hudson founded Earth Arts Studio in Fresno. “The art of Margaret Hudson celebrates the living creatures of our planet. Inspired by her life-long love of nature, her sculptures speak with joyous simplicity,” according to the studio website. “Sculpted from local clay, they remind us that all creatures, large and small, are formed of the same earth.”
