The event took place March 23, 2013, on the main FPU campus. National and local presenters presented a historical and intellectual view of conservatism. Speakers included: 

  • Mychal Massie (keynote) is the former national chairman of Project 21—The National Leadership Network of Black Conservatives and its parent organization, the National Center for Public Policy Research.
  • Ashley Swearengin, mayor of Fresno.
  • George Nash, independent scholar, historian and lecturer with specialties in twentieth century American political and intellectual history. His books include The Conservative Intellectual Movement in America Since 1945 and Reappraising the Right: The Past and Future of American Conservatism
  • Victor Davis Hanson, Ph.D., is the Martin and Illie Anderson Senior Fellow in Residence in Classics and Military History at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University; a professor of Classics Emeritus at California State University, Fresno; and a nationally syndicated columnist.

KMJ radio and FPU Provost Stephen Varvis, Ph.D., were inducted into the Sunbird Conservatives Alumni Association Hall of Fame. KMJ has been the Sunbird Conservatives' major media sponsor. Varvis has supported the organization from its beginning.
