Spring will be celebrated with songs of praise at the Fresno Pacific University Spring Choral Concert Friday, April 25, 2025. 

The music begins at 7:00 p.m. in Warkentine Culture & Arts Center, 4838 E. Butler Ave., on the main FPU campus. Performing will be FPU Concert Choir and special guests from the San Joaquin Chorale. Jeffrey Wilson, D.M.A., will be the primary conductor and Matthew Horton, M.A., piano, the main accompanist. Admission is free.

Selections will come from the music of Ola Gjeilo, Elaine Hagenberg, Keith Hampton, G.F. Handel, Delilah Ovalle, Alice Parker, Rosephanye Powell, Robert Ray, Walter Biddle Saul II, R. Vaughan Williams and Gwyneth Walker. Other artists will include Davis Maga and Delilah Ovalle, conductors; Karen Madden, piano; and Steve Madden, tenor saxophone.

Jeffrey Wilson, D.M.A., is professor of music at Fresno Pacific University. Previously, he taught K-12 vocal music in Iowa and Illinois and served as director of choral studies at Greenville (IL) University. Choirs under his direction have toured throughout the United States, Mexico, Canada and Europe and performed with the American Kantorei, the Boston Camerata and the Kingsbury Ensemble. Wilson also has extensive experience as an organist and church musician. He is a life member of the American Choral Directors Association having served on the Illinois ACDA board and as president. 

Pianist Matthew Horton, M.A., has accompanied ensembles throughout Europe, Asia and North America. Born and raised in Tulare, Horton earned a B.A. and an M.A. in Piano Performance from Fresno State. He has taught at Fresno State, Fresno City College and Porterville College. Horton currently serves FPU as general accompanist.
