Consider this an invitation to “Business for the Common Good: Kingdom Companies and Enterprising Ministries,” hosted by the Fresno Pacific University Center for Community Transformation.

The event, part of The Work of Our Hands Summit Series, will be from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2016, in Valley Christian Center, 4649 E. Shields Ave., Fresno. This year two workshop tracks are available: one for business people, professionals and business students, and the other for churches and community benefit organizations.

Ivan Gonzalez will be the keynote speaker. In more than 25 years as a coach for social enterprises, Gonzales has been committed to equipping leaders to get beyond traditional charity and make a difference in their community. He has worked successfully with start-ups and mid-size enterprises to develop a new economic model with a social as well as a financial bottom line.

Features include:

  • Ways to connect with those who care about business solutions to poverty

  • Innovative ideas for social entrepreneurship

  • Practical workshops that equip people of faith to bring their unique resources to the table

  • Examples of how local churches and community-based organizations use business techniques to solve social problems
