Local Girl Scouts proved again they’re about more than cookies when Fresno Troop 5011 donated 19 bags of groceries (and bags of cookies)—one for each scout—and $300 to Fresno Pacific University’s Sunbird Food Pantry April 13. The donation was made with the cooperation of the Office of Fresno District 5 City Councilmember Luis Chavez. The pantry supports FPU students and the community surrounding the main campus. Troop Leader Jennifer Rapada is the daughter of Brenda and Steve Rapada—Steve coordinated the donation with the FPU Campus Life Office and Brenda is Councilmember Chavez’s chief of staff.
