Students and faculty gathered—fittingly—in The Forest and on the Campus Green April 22 to celebrate Earth Day on the main Fresno pacific University campus, 1717 S. Chestnut Ave., Fresno. Members of the university community showed off their electric cars while faculty members hosted booths with information on a variety of environmental topics. Speakers included Ken Friesen, Ph.D., professor of history and international studies and global education coordinator (pictured); Laura Schmidt Roberts, Ph.D., professor of biblical and theological studies; and Andrew Sensenig, Ph.D., associate professor of biology and chair of the biology department.

Earth Day is an annual event to support environmental protection. First held on April 22, 1970, it now includes a wide range of events involving 1 billion people in more than 193 countries. The theme for 2024 was “Planet vs. Plastics.”
