Helping churches serve people with disabilities is the goal of a workshop from the Center for Community Transformation at Fresno Pacific University.
“Embracing Families with Disabilities” will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2025, in BC Lounge on the main FPU campus, 1717 S. Chestnut Ave. Admission is free and lunch is included, but participants need to register in advance at cctfresno.org/initiatives/education-training/ministry-labs/nsne-training-series
Fred Hammer, III, ministry relations manager, Joni and Friends Central California, will be the featured speaker. With many families in congregations including a family member with a disability, the church has a unique opportunity to create a culture of belonging. This workshop will provide tools and resources to help churches engage, support and empower individuals and families affected by disabilities.
Joni and Friends was founded in 1979 to reach and serve people with disabilities with practical help and the saving love of Jesus. More at joniandfriends.org
This event is made possible through generous funding from the Lilly Foundation and is part of CCT’s New Skills for a New Era series of workshops to help churches address community needs.
