In order to help students finish the spring 2020 semester strong in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, and make it easier for them to continue their education, Fresno Pacific University has adjusted its standard grading policies for the semester to expand options for Credit/No Credit (CR/NC) grades, Incompletes and Withdrawals.

“We know the shift to remote learning has been challenging for our students, as well as their instructors. We trust students have fully engaged in their course work during this time; however, we know some face extraordinary and challenging circumstances. We have listened to those concerns,” said Joseph Jones, Ph.D., president of FPU.

Changes for the semester include allowing CR/NC grades to count for courses in a student’s major, minor or general education classes and extending late withdrawal deadlines. Certain programs are not positioned to use the CR/NC option and special requirements apply for student-athletes, students who are military veterans and international students. Students must sign up to be covered under the policy by contacting the FPU Registrar’s Office at fresno.edu/students/registrars-office.

Students were informed of the change via email Friday, April 24, and a letter will go out this week. This policy change applies only to the spring 2020 semester only.

“Our faculty care about you and are committed to helping you through this period of uncertainty. We encourage you to seek guidance from your instructors, mentors or advisers as you consider what is best for you and what action you need to take,” Jones said.
