Students at work

Each student was matched with a professional in their area of interest. Participants observed a leadership board meeting, experienced a typical day in an office setting, enjoyed lunch hosted by Duncan and took the opportunity to ask questions. Bruce Sharp (BA '00), of the alumni advisory board, and Larry Duncan, CEO and president of Duncan Enterprises, helped organize the event.

"This was a tremendously exciting day for the students," Duncan said. "The students spent the afternoon with team members in their chosen department, experiencing trending meetings, accounting procedures and HR activities...This is a great program!"

Job Shadow Day 2007 was the first time FPU placed students at Duncan Enterprises in an effort to help students determine their chosen career paths.

"We're thrilled for the opportunity our students have before them to explore possible careers," said David Bacci, director of alumni relations. "One of the great purposes of an alumni association is to help future alumni make the transition from student to professional, and Duncan Enterprises has been a great help to us in making this happen."

Fresno Pacific University is planning additional Job Shadow Days for the fall and spring semesters of the 2007-2008 academic year.

If your company would like to be a part of Fresno Pacific's next Job Shadow Day, please contact the Career Services Center at crc@fresno.edu or 559-453-2220.
