FPU offers first summer music camp

"Students will be challenged to perform at their highest levels within a nurturing, family-like environment," said Walter Saul, D.M.A., camp director and FPU music faculty. "While the serious study of music is our major concern, we seek the development of personal responsibility, including effective practice habits, respect for one another and conceptual learning, as opposed to mere rote learning."

Teachers are FPU faculty, students and professional musicians in the Fresno area. Specialized instruction in jazz, chamber music, contemporary worship music, composition and musical theater are available. The camp also features aural skills and music theory on all levels, along with guided recreational activities and daily devotions. A series of concerts by participants will close the camp.

Applications must be postmarked by June 1. Download a brochure and registration form, including information on fees and scholarships on the music department page. For more information, or to get a brochure, call 559-453-2012 or email wbs@fpu.edu.
