David Allen presented a framed original copy of the front page of the April 15, 1865, New York Herald, describing the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. David’s wife, Marjorie, received the page from an elderly neighbor to whom she would read when she was in junior high school. The Allens decided to give the page to FPU because they have a trust with the university. The framed page now hangs in the history department hallway in McDonald Hall on the main campus. Pictured are David Allen, left, and W. Marshall Johnston, Ph.D., associate professor and program director of history.
