The event, a precursor to the May 5 commencement, was hosted by the Office of Spiritual Formation. Activities included the presentation of ethnic sashes to be worn by graduates at commencement ceremonies, and cultural blessings for international, African American and Latino students. Decorations included symbols of the many cultures included in the student body. Music was provided by students Kha Vang and Coua Lee, as well as La Rondalla, a guitar ensemble from the Universidad de Colima.

Among the speakers were Quentin Kinnison, assistant professor of biblical and religious studies; Angulus Wilson, university pastor; Dina Gonzales-Pina, assistant dean of multicultural ministries; Karen Crozier, special assistant to the provost; Arnie Prieb, director of the International Programs and Services Office; and students Cammie Southern and Indira Vilchez.
