More than 30 participants learned about creating a business that profits people and communities as well as the financial bottom line at the 2019 Social Business Plan Workshop May 15 at the Fresno Pacific University Center for Community Transformation (CCT). Students and community members received training in social enterprise, marketing, governance and more from Andrew Shinn (standing at right), MBA, FPU business instructor and owner of Shinn Photography. The event also served as the first step for registrants to apply to pitch at the CCT’s 7th Annual Spark Tank Pitch Fest on November 14 at Lanna Coffee, 617 Broadway, Fresno. Through Spark Tank CCT has invested over $100,000 in more than 40 businesses. For more information about the Spark Tank Pitch Fest, go to cctfresno.org or contact Carlos Huerta, program director for community initiatives, at Carlos.huerta@fresno.edu or 559-453-2374.
