About 650 people attended the event that honored the 121 graduate students who have completed the requirements for a California teacher's credential. The program began at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2014, in the Special Events Center on the main campus.

Larry W. Metzler (pictured), assistant professor of education and coordinator of the University Mentor Program, was the main speaker. In his talk, "The Journey," Metzler described his 50 years in education. "Highly effective teachers have a gift and have been called to not only teach but to influence the lives of the students they teach," he said before the event. "This is my journey of reaching out and touching the lives of those that I've taught."

Other highlights of the evening included the presentation of Apple Awards to outstanding supervisors of student teachers.
