Fresno Pacific Director of Athletics Kyle Ferguson announced the appointment of Cameron Shahrokhi as the new associate head men’s soccer coach May 23, 2024. Shahrokhi, a seasoned coach with a rich background in both playing and coaching soccer, brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success to the Sunbirds program.

"We are excited to welcome Cameron to the Fresno Pacific family," said Ferguson. "His dedication, exceptional coaching acumen and strong leadership skills will undoubtedly elevate our men’s soccer program. Most importantly, Cameron’s commitment to Christ and developing student-athletes both on and off the field aligns perfectly with our mission at FPU."

Shahrokhi’s coaching career is impressive and extensive. He has been the boy’s varsity head coach and director of soccer at Clovis North High School since 2017, leading the team to an overall record of 138-20-19 over seven seasons. Under his guidance, the team has won four conference championships and two section championships in 2023 and 2024, reaching the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) State Regional Finals in 2023. His achievements have earned him three Conference Coach of the Year designations and the CIF Section Coach of the Year award in 2023.

Additionally, Shahrokhi has served as the men’s assistant coach at Fresno City College since 2013, helping the team secure 10 Central Valley Conference (CVC) Championships and two California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Championships. His previous coaching roles include stints at Buchanan High School, Clovis Crossfire and California Odyssey Soccer Club, where he achieved numerous league and state titles. Notably, he coached back-to-back state championships with California Odyssey’s ’02 boy's team and a national runner-up finish.

Shahrokhi’s playing career also stands out. At Clovis West High School, he was part of the national championship-winning team in 2006, contributing as a role player during his sophomore year and becoming a key player in his junior and senior years. He was part of the team that won three consecutive CIF titles in 2006, 2007 and 2008, earning two All-TRAC selections and a spot on the All-CIF First Team in 2008. Continuing his soccer career at Fresno City College, Shahrokhi was a two-time CVC Champion and part of teams that were nationally ranked by the NSCAA, reaching fourth in the USA in 2009-10 and fith in the USA in 2010-11. He was an All-CVC selection his sophomore season at FCC. He also played for the Fresno Fuego in the Premier Development League for two seasons.

Shahrokhi holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Fresno State, which he completed in Spring 2021. His comprehensive coaching experience and strategic acumen make him an invaluable addition to the Fresno Pacific University men’s soccer program.

Shahrokhi will work closely with Director of Soccer Jaime Ramirez for the development of the men’s soccer program. Ramirez has done an outstanding job leading the program to success and will continue as the lead director of soccer. Together, they aim to build on the strong foundation and take the program to new heights.

"I’m extremely excited to have Cameron join our coaching staff in this new role as associate head coach,” said Ramirez. “Our program has had many fine assistant coaches with tremendous knowledge of our Central Valley community, and Cameron brings that to FPU. As a local high school product and former Fresno City College player, he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from his years of coaching at the community college and high school levels. It is a logical transition to move from where he has been to an NCAA DII program. More importantly, his faith in God will be instrumental in influencing the lives of the young men in our soccer program. Welcome to Sunbird Soccer, Cameron!"

Shahrokhi expressed his enthusiasm for the new role, stating, "I am honored to serve as the associate head men’s soccer coach at Fresno Pacific University. I am eager to grow under Coach Ramirez’s mentorship while pushing our program to the championship level. I will work tirelessly to help develop our student-athletes on and off the field to reach their maximum potential. FPU has a rich soccer history and I am grateful to be a part of it. Go Sunbirds!"
