"One key to my calling, my ministry, as president is to advance the name, vision, values and distinct education of this university nationally and in the community," Menjares said.

Menjares was part of the resource team for 2013 Multi-Ethnic Leadership Development Institute (MELDI) sponsored by the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities. He and wife Virginia co-presented a session on spouses and their experience with God's leading. Marylou Miller, executive director of human resources, was part of the conference leadership program and led a devotional.

Pete and Virginia Menjares, FPU Board member Yami Rodriguez and Vicencia Abundis, administrative assistant to the president, attended the National Hispanic Prayer Breakfast & Conference in Washington, D.C., joining leaders from all over the country in education, business, the church and government for worship and prayer for the nation. FPU was the only West Coast sponsor of the event. The prayer breakfast was hosted by Esperanza. Based in Philadelphia, Esperanza has an academy for college-prep students and a two-year college affiliated with Eastern University.

The CCCU conference took place June 13-17 at Cedar Springs Christian Retreat Center, Sumas, WA. The National Hispanic Prayer Breakfast was June 18-20.
