FPU Community Wind Ensemble (formerly Community Concert Band) and Jazz Ensemble are both beginning weekly rehearsals for their 2006-2007 seasons: The Wind Ensemble at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 29, and the Jazz Band at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, August 31.
The Wind Ensemble is entering its fifth year. "It is my hope that the level of musicianship will attract more dedicated students as well as community members," said director Patricia DeBenedetto. The group seeks strong players in the trumpet, clarinet, saxophone, trombone, baritone and percussion sections. The Jazz Ensemble performs a variety of jazz styles.
The Community Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble rehearse on the FPU main campus, south of the intersection of Butler and Chestnut. The enrollment fee for either group is $50 per semester.
