BLEND conference welcomes speaker Michael Wesch

BLEND (Better Learning through Engagement, Networking and Delivery) takes place on the FPU main campus, 1717 S. Chestnut Ave., Fresno, at the Chestnut-Butler intersection. The title is "Building New Learning Environments for New Media Environments." Early bird registration for both days is $80 before October 1. Regular registration is $100. Presentations will follow three tracks: higher education best practices, K-12 best practices and media/tools/web 2.0. Among the highlights will be the keynote address at 11:00 a.m. October15 by speaker Michael Wesch, Ph.D., an anthropologist at Kansas State University. Dubbed "the explainer" by Wired magazine, Wesch studies the effects of social media and digital technology on global society. His honors include Wired's Rave Award and the 2008 CASE/Carnegie U.S. Professor of the Year for Doctoral and Research Universities.

BLEND is geared toward experienced professionals and interested newcomers, such as:
