The Pacific Artist Series at Fresno Pacific University begins 14 years of bringing the best in music to the Central Valley.
The season opens at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 13, with Ensemble Dolce in the McDonald Hall Atrium on the main FPU campus, 1717 S. Chestnut Ave., Fresno. Ensemble Dolce brings together the sweet sounds of flute and piano in compositions by favorites like Mozart, Telemann, Doppler and Quantz, as well contemporary composer Yuko Uebayashi. Members are Janette Erickson, M.A.; Pamela Ellzey, M.M.; and Alan Rea, D.M.A.
Erickson is principal flutist of the Fresno Philharmonic Orchestra and Fresno Grand Opera; founder/flutist of the Moment Musical, a professional chamber ensemble; and director/founder of flute choirs Les Flutes Enchantées and La Forza. Also active as a private flute instructor, Erickson is adjunct faculty at FPU.
Ellzey is second flute in the Fresno Philharmonic Orchestra and Fresno Grand Opera who also performs in The Winds of the San Joaquin, a woodwind quintet. Ellzey teaches and performs each summer at Wildwood Music Institute and performs in recitals and masterclasses throughout the Southwest.
Rea is heard often in Central California as a piano soloist, harpsichordist, accompanist and chamber music player, and has also appeared as soloist with many area orchestras. He is one of the founders of the Sierra Chamber Opera.
Admission for all concerts is $12 for general audiences, $8 for senior citizens and $5 students, payable at the door. For more information, contact the FPU Music Office at 559-453-2267, music@fresno.edu or fresno.edu/programs-majors/arts/pacific-artist-series
