A national magazine has placed Fresno Pacific University high on its list of colleges that provide a quality education at an affordable price.
Washington Monthly rates FPU at number 18 on its 2016 “Best Bang for the Buck” Western Region. Schools in this category are ranked according to “the extent to which they charge students who aren’t rich a reasonable price for quality education that will advance them in their careers,” the magazine states. The Western Region includes 198 colleges and universities.
“Providing students with opportunities to develop intellectually, ethically and spiritually is our definition of educational excellence,” said President Richard Kriegbaum, Ph.D. “Many of those who attend FPU are the first in their families to enroll in a university, and they come from variety of economic, ethnic and social backgrounds. We welcome them all and are happy to help them explore the possibilities for their lives.”
Since its first ranking in 2005, Washington Monthly has rated colleges and universities based on their contribution to the public good in three broad categories: social mobility (recruiting low-income students and their graduation rate), research (producing scholarship) and service (encouraging students to give something back). In addition, “Best Bang for the Buck” rankings help non-wealthy students earn marketable degrees at affordable prices.
