“Who Will be a Witness” is the title and theme of the 2021 Believers Church Lecture Series, Tuesday-Wednesday, September 28-29, at Fresno Pacific University.

Andrew Hart, Ph.D., will be the guest speaker at four events:

  • “Liberating Barabbas,” at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Butler Church Sanctuary
  • “Putting on Your Blue Jeans: Igniting Activism for God’s Justice, Love and Deliverance,” at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Butler Church Sanctuary
  • “Presidential Breakfast: Going the Wrong Way on an Escalator,” at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Butler Church Fellowship Hall
  • “Changing the Way the Church Views Racism,” a College Hour chapel program, at 10:00 a.m. in the Butler Church Sanctuary

Hart is an activist, writer and sought-after speaker on racial justice, Black theology, Anabaptism and white supremacy. He is an assistant professor of theology at Messiah College and his doctorate is from Lutheran Theological Seminary.

The Believers Church Lecture Series is organized by Fresno Pacific Biblical Seminary, part of FPU, as an ongoing exploration of the relevance of the Believers Church tradition for the shape of contemporary Christian thought and life. It is supported by an endowment established by the late Dr. Herbert and Jessica Penner of Bakersfield, CA.
