Gershwin gala opens 2006-2007 Pacific Artist Series

Richard Glazier, piano, performs an all-Gershwin concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, September 29, 2006, in Bonner Auditorium, Fresno Art Museum, 2233 N. First St. Admission is $10 for general audiences, $7 for students and senior citizens.

"Richard Glazier has Gershwin in his soul," according to singer and pianist Michael Feinstein. Trained in the classics, Glazier earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Indiana University School of Music and a doctorate of musical arts from the Cleveland Institute of Music. He made formal classical debuts in New York, Boston, Los Angeles and Rome and has won several major international competitions. Glazier has performed in nearly every state in the union. Weaving stories, film clips and piano performances into his programs, he offers an exciting glimpse into our musical heritage.

The Pacific Artist Series offers four more events for 2006-2007, culminating in a full production of Fiddler on the Roof in the spring. The five remaining performances are Anthony Brown, baritone, Wednesday, October 25, 2006; Eugene Friesen, cello, Thursday, January 18, 2007; Alan Durst, saxophone, and Corey Whitehead, guitar, Friday, February 9, 2007; and Fiddler, March 23, 24, 30 and 31, 2007.

All concerts will be at 7:30 p.m. in Bonner Auditorium at Fresno Art Museum; Fiddler will be at 7:30 p.m. in the FPU Special Events Center. Admission for all events is $10 for general audiences, $7 for senior citizens and students.
