A group of local Christian leaders gathered September 12, 2107, to prayerfully welcome Joseph and Yvette Jones to their work at Fresno Pacific University.
Joseph Jones, Ph.D., became 13th president of the university July 1, 2107. The President’s Prayer Breakfast began at 8:30 a.m. in BC Lounge at Fresno Pacific Biblical Seminary, located on the main FPU campus at 1717 S. Chestnut Ave., Fresno, and was sponsored by the FPU Office of Spiritual Formation.
The morning’s verse was Romans 15:13: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”
Activities included a welcome by Angulus Wilson, Ph.D., university pastor. Walter Saul, D.M.A., professor of music, led a hymn of praise. Paul Binion, pastor of Westside Church of God, presented a devotional titled “Great is Thy Faithfulness.” Prayers were given for the Jones family, the FPU leadership team, staff and faculty and the board of trustees by Terry Brensinger, Ph.D., president of FPBS and vice president of FPU; Johnny Mendez, pastor of Crosspoint Church; B.T Lewis, pastor of Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church; and Charles Dickerson, pastor of ANEW Pearly Grove Baptist Church, respectively. Jon Shabaglian, pastor of Campus Bible Church, led a hymn of celebration and Edward Lee, pastor of Mount OIive Missionary Baptist Church, gave the benediction.
