After serving on the Advancement team at Fresno Pacific University since 2024, Matt Mazzoni has been promoted to senior major gift officer.

Prior to his time with Advancement, Mazzoni spent 10 years with FPU Athletics, where he served in several roles, including assistant athletic director. In his new position, Mazzoni will oversee development meetings, help lead strategic goals and planning initiatives and spearhead the campaign committee.

Vice President for University Advancement Liz Garvin said Mazzoni’s experience across the university makes him well suited for the expanded role.

“Throughout his tenure in both Athletics and University Advancement, Matt has demonstrated exceptional dedication and professional growth,” she said. “His deep institutional knowledge and extensive experience make him uniquely qualified to lead our team during this pivotal season.”

For Mazzoni, the promotion is seen as a blessing and an opportunity.

“I am simply grateful,” Mazzoni said. “FPU has given me the opportunity to grow professionally and personally, and I do not take that for granted.”

Mazzoni also said he is excited to continue building relationships that benefit students and Fresno Pacific as a whole.

“More than anything, it is meaningful to know that the relationships we build and the work we do can create opportunities for our students,” he said. “I am most excited about continuing to build genuine relationships with people who believe in FPU and its mission.”

Having served at FPU since 2014, Mazzoni looks at the work still ahead with anticipation and enthusiasm.

“There are so many great stories to tell and important opportunities ahead for the university,” he said. “I enjoy helping connect the passions of our donors with projects that can make a lasting difference for our students and community.”

“God is at work throughout FPU, from the work of our faculty and staff to the growth we see in our students,” he said. “It is exciting to be here during this time of momentum and to see how God continues to transform our community and the lives of our students.”
