The Council on Child and Youth Development presented Yadira’s Family Child Care with the Impact Award in 2015 to recognize FPU student Yadira Mendoza for providing quality care to children in Tulare County.

Mendoza, who is earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Development at the Visalia Campus, first worked in her mother’s family child care center. Her agency, Yadira’s Family Child Care opened and was licensed in 2008. The center was a pilot site for the Quality Rating Improvement System (QRIS) Grant. QRIS is a standardized rating system that measures quality in an early childhood education program using independent assessment based on standardized criteria.

Thanks to Mendoza’s dedication and hard work in helping Tulare County earn this state grant, other providers and preschool programs will be able to participate and in return will help create higher quality programs for children.
