Soprano Deborah Sauer-Ferrand and pianist Douglas Sumi (BA '05) performed October 17 in the McDonald Hall Atrium on the main campus.

Sumi is pianist/vocal coach with the Los Angeles Opera, where he has been involved in productions of Carmen, La Traviata, Tamerlano, The Barber of Seville, Die Gezeichneten, The Marriage of Figaro, Rigoletto, Il Turco in Italia, Das Rheingold and Siegfried in Der Ring des Nibelungen.

Sauer-Ferrand, associate professor of music, has performed with opera companies and orchestras across the United States and Europe. A member of the music faculty since 1992, Sauer-Ferrand serves as vocal music coordinator.

Del Sol Quartet Monday, November 14, 7:30 p.m., McDonald Hall Atrium

San Francisco's Del Sol String Quartet, two-time winner of the Chamber Music America/ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming, creates programs with electronica, instruments from other cultures and multimedia. Members have released four CDs and performed at the Kennedy Center, Library of Congress, National Gallery of Art and Smithsonian Museum.

Tom Bopp Sunday, January 29, 4:00 p.m., McDonald Hall Atrium

Pianist/singer Tom Bopp has entertained at Yosemite's Wawona Hotel since 1983. His repertoire ranges from Celtic folk music to jazz, focusing on popular music from the first 50 years of the 20th century. His one-man show "Vintage Songs of Yosemite" celebrates the first century of Yosemite through music, stories, art and photography.

Larry Warkentin Friday, March 23, 7:30 p.m., Butler Church, 4884 E. Butler Ave., Fresno

The season concludes with an evening of compositions by professor emeritus Larry Warkentin, who taught at FPU 1962-2002. The featured work will be Sun, Moon and Stars, a cantata for baritone solo, choir and orchestra conducted by Zachary Durlam,assistant professor of music, with the ConcertChoir and soloist Milton Friesen, music instructor.
