Fresno Pacific Biblical Seminary has welcomed Ray C. Robles, Ph.D., as assistant professor of Bible and theology. Robles brings experience in pastoral ministry, teaching and theological research to his new role.

Robles’ role is supported by funding from the Lilly Endowment Inc. grant that the Seminary received at the end of 2025. In addition to teaching, Robles will also draw on his Spanish-language skills to assist denominational and nonprofit partners in their quest to expand theological resources for Hispanic church leaders.

“We are delighted to welcome Dr. Ray Robles to Fresno Pacific Biblical Seminary,” said Fresno Pacific University President André Stephens, Ph.D. “His deep love for the church, scholarly depth, pastoral experience and deep roots in the Central Valley make him an excellent fit for our mission. We are especially excited about the ways his teaching and Spanish-language ministry will help prepare students for faithful service and expand theological resources for Hispanic churches and pastors in the region.”

Born and raised in Modesto, California, Robles grew up in a family with Pentecostal pastors on both sides. Robles followed his own call to pastoral ministry and teaching, moving to Phoenix, Arizona, to serve on the faculty at Grand Canyon University and to plant a church. He is ordained through Global Alliance Network.

“I’ve really enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere here,” Robles said. “It’s clear that the Seminary is intentional about cultivating a community where people feel connected and where learning and formation are taken seriously.”

According to Brian Ross, D.Min., associate professor of pastoral ministries and disciplinary lead at the Seminary, Robles’ presence is already making a positive impact.

“Dr. Robles possesses a unique combination of being a serious (and historically orthodox) scholar, a passionate church leader and someone who naturally relates to everyday people,” Ross said. “I have already had numerous students express to me how thankful they are to have him as a mentor and teacher.”

Robles earned a bachelor’s degree from Liberty University and a Master of Theological Studies from Pentecostal Theological Seminary in Cleveland, Tennessee. He later earned a Ph.D. in philosophy and religion from Bangor University in Wales.

He is also the author of two books, The Ancient Story of God-With-Us (2025) and Theological Metaphysics: A Pentecostal Theology of Being (2024). Robles is a student of church history, with additional research interests in Christian metaphysics, patristic Christian thought and systematic theology.

Robles and his wife, Christina, have two children, Marlon and Danica.
