Fresno Leading Young Professionals (FLYP) is a grass roots non-profit organization created in 2005 for professionals generally between the ages of 21 and 40 years old. The group offers a leadership program to connect and serve the business community and the region. Among its 1,500 members are teachers, engineers, doctors, attorneys, bankers and accountants. According to the website (www.flypinfo.com) its purpose is to "attract and retain young professionals in the greater Fresno area who are committed to professional and civic leadership."
"I am honored to receive the award," said Coppler, who spent three years on the organization's board of directors. "It was a privilege to be involved and help cast a vision for FLYP for the next five years."
A resident of the Fresno/Clovis area most of her life, Coppler has been with FPU for two years, first as program representative and community outreach coordinator. In her present position Coppler coordinates and oversees marketing and advertising for all FPU centers: Merced, North Fresno, Visalia and Bakersfield.
Prior to FPU, Coppler was a reporter and columnist for the Sierra Star newspaper in Oakhurst and editor of Talk, a South Valley community magazine from the custom publications department of The Fresno Bee. She has a bachelor's degree from California State University, Fresno.
Coppler is not the only FPU connection to FLYP leadership: Dawn Steele (BA ‘08), is the current board chair; Lidija Stojkoska (BA ‘07), is the treasurer; and Allison Boogaert (MA ‘10) is past chair.
