Concert begins Christmas season at Fresno Pacific University

Focusing hearts and thoughts on Jesus, whose birth Christmas celebrates, is the theme of a concert hosted by Fresno Pacific University.

"Lessons and Carols" is a collection of songs and Scripture readings performed by the FPU Concert Choir. The concert begins at 6 p.m. Sunday, November 24, in First Congregational Church, 2131 Van Ness Blvd. There is no admission charge. A freewill offering will be taken.

Roy Klassen conducts the 38-voice choir, made up of FPU students. A music faculty member since 1977, he earned a doctorate from Arizona State University. Klassen also conducts the San Joaquin Chorale and the chancel choir at Butler Church. Featured musicians include Clifford Badgley, organ, and Beverly Hyatt, harp. The university's Musica Pacifica Baroque Orchestra will also perform.
