Cuban-American playwright Eduardo Machado tells of afamily finding refuge in the United States after the 1950s Cuban Revolution. Each member struggles with the reality they may not be going home again. Julia Reimer, drama faculty, is the director and Michael Oldham is assistant director. The cast of students and alumni includes Michael Chavez, Kaitlyn Nichols, Erica Rivera, Angela Ellington and Edgar Olivera.

Immigration is the theme of FPU's 2010-2011 theater season. The spring production is Michael Harelick's The Immigrant, about his Jewish grandparents' arrival in Texas from Russia in the early 1900s. The young couple is befriended by a Christian couple who help them survive and adjust to their new home.
The debate over who gets to call the United States "home" has been a hot topic since the first colonists arrived. Playwrights Machado and Harelick don't avoid political issues, but they really care about the personal side of their characters' search for home. Family, friendship and faith become a source of strength and stability in difficult circumstances.
