This decade-long Christmas tradition brings together singers and instrumentalists from across the university to celebrate the season with the community. The praise begins at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Sunday, November 24, 2013, in First Presbyterian Church, 1540 M St., Fresno. Tickets are $10 for general audiences and $5 for students. The foundation of Lessons & Carols is a Church of England service first performed in 1918 at King's College (part of Cambridge University), and adapted from an order by E.W. Benson, later Archbishop of Canterbury.

Featured ensembles will be the Concert Choir, Women's Chorale, Men's Chorus, Crosswind vocal/instrumental troupe, Pacific Bronze handbell choir and Pacific Brass. Zachary Durlam, D.M.A., FPU director of choral activities, is the artistic director. Julia Reimer, Ph.D., associate professor of theater, is reading coordinator, and Chris Janzen, MFA, assistant professor of art, is visual art coordinator. Ensemble directors are Milt Friesen (Crosswind), instructor of music; Elizabeth Gonzales, adjunct music faculty (Pacific Bronze); and Wayne Huber, associate professor of music (Pacific Brass). Joy Gaje will accompany the Concert Choir and Beth Benjamin will accompany the Women's Chorale and Men's Chorus.
