Celebrate Christmas with FPU musicians

Holiday classics from "Deck the Halls With Boughs of Holly" to selections from The Messiah will be featured at the Classic Christmas Concert sponsored by Fresno Pacific University.

Pacific Brass, the Handbell Choir, the Women's Chorale, Flautas Pacifica and Pacific Chamber Singers will perform at 7 p.m. Sunday, December 2, in Veteran's Memorial Auditorium, Fresno and O streets, Fresno. Tickets are $5 general admission and $3 for students and those over 65. No reservations are necessary.

The Concert Choir and Women's Chorale will join a special Classic Christmas Orchestra for a program from The Messiah. Wayne Huber will conduct the combined ensemble in "Comfort Ye My People/Every Valley Shall Be Exalted," "And the Glory of the Lord," "He Shall Feed His Flock," "Hallelujah Chorus" and other selections from Handel's masterpiece.

Pacific Chamber Singers will perform "Sing We Now of Christmas," "Angel Alleluias," "Deck the Halls With Boughs of Holly" and "Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day." Roy Klassen conducts the choir.

The Pacific Brass program includes "Christmas Song," "I Saw Three Ships" and "Master in This Hall." The group is conducted by Jennie Blomster.

The Handbell Choir, conducted by Elizabeth Gonzales, will play "Dolce Noel" and "Here We Come A-Caroling." The Women's Chorale will sing "The Omen" and "A Boy Was Born in Bethlehem." Arlene Steffen conducts the chorale.

Flautas Pacifica is a flute/woodwind ensemble conducted by Janette Erickson. Flautas will perform "Away in a Manger," "Go Tell It on the Mountain," "Santa's Symphony" and "Dance of the Mirlitons" from Nutcracker Ballet.
