The graduate and traditional undergraduate ceremony begins at 10:00 a.m. Bachelor's degree completion students receive their diplomas at 2:00 p.m. Both commencements will be in the Special Events Center on the main FPU campus, 1717 S. Chestnut Ave., Fresno, south of the Chestnut-Butler intersection. In all, 273 bachelor's degree completion graduates will receive diplomas, along with 44 master's students and 35 traditional undergraduates.

Fresno County Superior Court Judge Robert H. Oliver is the speaker. Oliver has been presiding judge of the Juvenile Department and a member of the superior court appellate panel and executive committee. He is an elected member of the executive committee of the California Judges Association. After earning his bachelor's degree from California State University and juris doctor degree from Golden Gate University School of Law, he practiced for 22 years with the firm of Wild, Carter, Tipton, & Oliver. Oliver's community commitments include being president or chair of the Fresno State Foundation Board of Governors, the Rotary Club of Fresno, Fresno City and County Historical Society and Fresno County Interagency Council for Children and Families. He has also been on the board of the San Joaquin College of Law, Fresno Regional Foundation, St. Agnes Medical Center, KPTV public television and Sequoia Council, Boy Scouts of America. He and wife Stephanie have two sons.
