Ministry Quest and Canadian Conference Representatives Discuss Leadership Development

Representatives from Canadian Mennonite University (Gordon Matties), Columbia Bible College (Virginia Hooper), Bethany College (Rick McCorkindale), Canadian Conference (Ewald Unruh), Ministry Quest (Cam Priebe) and Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary (Doug Berg) gathered at the International Leadership Association (ILA) conference in Los Angeles November 12-15 to further the cause of leadership development within the Mennonite Brethren denomination. The idea for the consultation was initiated by MB Biblical Seminary and funded by Ministry Quest and the Canadian Conference in order to increase intentional leadership development within the schools and churches of the MB Church in Canada.

Participants listened to many presentations on leadership development, leadership education and leadership training, and interacted with internationally recognized authors, practitioners and educators. These representatives also met together to specifically discuss how their schools and agencies could collaborate on leadership development. "The conversation allowed us to establish a common language for leadership development and a common understanding of what is needed. There was a willingness and openness to see what we can do together," remarked Cam Priebe, Ministry Quest Director. Excitement permeated the generation of ideas and a collegial spirit dominated the interaction about school collaboration as well as school and Canadian conference collaboration. The goal is that the dialogue will continue and will bear fruit in the development of leaders in the years ahead within our schools and churches.
