Called to More—FPU as a Launching Pad for a Life of Service, Leadership and Faith

It’s hard to believe I’ve entered my “senior year” (fourth year) at Fresno Pacific University. It has been an incredible adventure—full of both challenges and opportunities that come with this season of life and leadership. Through it all, Beth and I remain deeply grateful for God’s ongoing faithfulness to us and to this remarkable institution, now in its 81st year.

While the past three years have brought tremendous progress—including enrollment growth, record-breaking fundraising and significant campus improvements—our mission has remained steady: to transform students’ minds and hearts through a Christ-centered education. Even as we celebrate structural and strategic milestones, what we celebrate most is the transformation of students’ lives and their pursuit of goodness, truth and beauty in their disciplines, vocations and co-curricular experiences.

The theme of this issue draws from the Apostle Paul’s heartfelt exhortation to the Thessalonian church: to “excel even more” (1 Thessalonians 4:1) in their love for God and in how they live out their faith. That call echoes loudly at FPU, where our integration of faith, learning and service—shaped by mentoring faculty and immersive co-curricular experiences—equips students to live with purpose, courage and compassion. They are prepared to be difference-makers in every field and in the community.

One shining example is current FPU student-athlete Brianna Green—a national champion and scholar who truly embodies what it means to be “Called to More.” As you read the stories in this issue, I encourage you to reflect on your own calling—and how you, too, might “excel even more.”

Thank you, alumni and friends, for believing in what God is doing at FPU—transforming lives, one faithful student at a time.
