Dr. Delores Friesen, instructor in Pastoral Counseling at MB Biblical Seminary in Fresno, was promoted to the rank of full Professor by the Board of Directors during their spring meeting.
"Delores has been a pioneer in our counseling program, in ministry in world mission, in practicing justice for AIDS victims, and in encouraging women to give church leadership," says Academic Dean Lynn Jost. "Delores' service includes tireless hours in recruiting new students and providing pastoral counsel to current students, friends of the Seminary, and clients. We are pleased to recognize her service with this promotion in rank."
MB Biblical Seminary's criterion for promotion from Associate Professor to full Professor includes, among other requirements, an earned doctorate, leadership in the local church and contributions to a professional field.
Friesen has been with the Seminary since 1988 and has taught courses such as Human Sexuality, HIV/AIDS, Human Development, Counseling Families, Cross-Cultural Counseling, Advanced Family Studies, Grief Counseling, and Interpersonal Communication. In addition to serving as editor of the book All Are Witnesses, Friesen has authored study guides on marriage and living simply, chapters for six books and numerous articles. She recently completed 12 years on the board of MBMS International which involved many trips abroad. Along with a full teaching load her busy schedule includes a private counseling practice and service in her church and local community.
Through its campuses in Fresno, California; Langley, British Columbia; and Winnipeg, Manitoba, MB Biblical Seminary inspires and equips men and women to live as disciples of Jesus Christ, and to serve and lead in the church and in the world.
