Martens Contributes to Second Commentary

Elmer A. Martens, President Emeritus and Professor Emeritus of Old Testament at MB Biblical Seminary, has written commentary on the biblical text of Jeremiah and Lamentations for Cornerstone Biblical Commentary's 600 page volume. In addition Martens' 1986 commentary on Jeremiah, for the Believers Church Bible Commentary series, has just been reprinted.

The Cornerstone volume, which includes the text of the New Living Translation (NLT), features two authors writing on three biblical books. Professor Larry L. Walker of Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary writes on Isaiah. Tyndale House Publishers of Wheaton projects 18 volumes for the series of which the Isaiah-Jeremiah-Lamentations (Vol. 8) is the first to be published. Martens was part of the NLT translation team for Jeremiah.

This past January Martens taught the book of Jeremiah at the Asian Theological Seminary in Manila, Philippines. He comments, "Both commentaries served teacher and students well." Martens has also served as the Old Testament editor for the Believers Church Bible Commentary series from 1984-2004 and has written other books, including God's Design, which has been translated into Russian and Korean.

MB Biblical Seminary, with campuses in Fresno, California; Langley, British Columbia and Winnipeg, Manitoba, inspires and equips men and women to live as disciples of Jesus Christ, and to serve and lead in the church and the world.
