In new book, Mark Baker builds on Proclaiming the Scandal of the Cross

Mark D. Baker, Ph. D., professor of mission and theology, published Mucho mas que una cruz in November 2019 with Juanuno1 Ediciones. The book is an adaption of his earlier work, Proclaiming the Scandal of the Cross. The Spanish book has seven chapters from the English book as well as two new introductory chapters by Baker and nine other new chapters—two by Baker and seven by others, including chapters by seminary grads Dan Whitmarsh, Ivan Paz, Ryan Schellenberg and Grace Spencer and by Mennonite Brethren Multiply missionary Anne Thiessen. In all, 15 people share examples of proclaiming the good news of salvation by the cross. Contributions come from different contexts: from a village in the Peruvian jungle to metropolitan cities like Bogotá, from a pre-teen Sunday school class to preaching in Buenos Aires and from a conversation with a young man on the streets of Fresno to an illustrative example shared with Indigenous people in Mexico.
