Faculty, students, alumni participate in CAPS conference

Fresno Pacific University and Fresno Pacific Biblical Seminary faculty, students and alumni were well represented at the Christian Association for Psychological Studies 2016 international conference, March 10-12, 2016, in Los Angeles.

  • Jay Pope, Ph.D., associate professor of psychology, presented a paper titled, “What Happens to People After They Visit L'Arche?"

  • David Bruce Rose, Ph.D., associate professor of marriage and family therapy, presented a symposium titled, "The Power of a Moment: Critical Reflections on Immersive Cross-Cultural Training." Co-presenting were students Maricela Chavez, Caroline Dower and Lisa James. Adam Ghali, Ph.D., assistant professor of marriage and family therapy, put together the presentation and was scheduled to lead the symposium but was unable due to illness.

  • James Van Slyke, Ph.D., assistant professor of psychology, was one of four leaders of a post-conference workshop titled, “Understanding the Psychology of Humility: Clinical and Practical Applications.”

  • Rose and Nate Varvis (BA ’11, MA ’15) staff member at Link Care Center, presented a poster titled, "Addressing the Cultural Factors Contributing to Eating Disorders in Female Elite Athletes."
