Psychology students won top awards at two April conferences.

Lisa Reynaga and Alexia Trimm were honored for their poster, “The Activation of Spiritual Experiences and its Effect on Life Satisfaction” at the 51st Western Psychology Conference for Undergraduate Research April 26 at St. Mary's College in Moraga, CA. They were two of six traditional undergraduate students to present research posters at the conference (link to conference page)

Since 2015, Elizabeth Lake, Ph.D., associate professor of psychology, has taken students from the Experimental Psychology Lab course to present their research at the annual WPCRU Conference. 

Syndey Bray and Noemi Gonzalez also won first prize in the poster contest at the 2025 Centra California Behavioral Health Conference April 12 at Alliant International University, 5130 E. Clinton Way, Fresno. They received the award from the President of the American Psychological Association. The project is also part of the Experimental Psychology class.

All participating students at both conferences were supervised by James Van Slyke, Ph.D., associate professor of psychology and social science department chair.
