James Van Slyke to present at Lilly regional conference

James Van Slyke, Ph.D., associate professor and program director in psychology, will present at “Reckoning and Reimagining: Envisioning our Faithful Presence in the Liberal Arts,” the 2021 Lilly Regional Virtual Conference May 26-27, 2021. Van Slyke’s presentation, “Why do I go to extremes? Using political beliefs to signal to in-group members” begins at 1:40 p.m. (PST) May 27. The virtual conference will cover health care, economics, socio-politics and anti-racism. Willie James Jennings, Ph.D., associate professor of systematic theology and Africana studies, Yale University Divinity School, and Jane Hong, Ph.D., associate professor of history, Occidental College, are the keynote speakers. Registration is free and the program includes presentations, panel and roundtable discussions.
